Jamaly is my inspiration and the co-author of this book.
Jamaly was born on March 16, 2006, in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Jamaly is an only child who has struggled with many adversities in her short life.
Throughout her development, we, her immediate family noticed she was behind in many aspects of her development. We believed that there was something more to this delay. Jamaly was born with many birthmarks; these brown marks that are known in the NF community as “Café-au-Lait” (Coffee with Milk); and one of many indicators that she has NF. My motherly instincts told me that these birthmarks were abnormal, prompting me to seek additional medical advice.
